A gentle approach for babies
I take time to discuss pregnancy and birth history, movement, positioning, development and any concerns parents may have. Examinations may include observation and appropriate age-specific neuro-musculoskeletal checks.
I do not use manual spinal adjustments on babies. Where appropriate, techniques may include gentle soft tissue work, passive movement and supported holds within your baby’s comfort.
When parents have questions
Parents bring their babies to My Family Chiro for a wide range of concerns, including feeding and settling difficulties, sleep challenges, head shape and positional preferences, tummy time difficulties, movement patterns and developmental milestones.
With additional postgraduate training in chiropractic paediatrics and over 12 years of clinical experience, I take a thorough, individualised approach to assessing babies and young children. This includes age-appropriate neuro-musculoskeletal examinations, consideration of their development and an understanding of the concerns parents are noticing at home.
Where appropriate, care may involve gentle, age-appropriate techniques, practical advice and guidance to support comfortable movement and development. I also work alongside GPs, child health nurses, physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals when further investigation or specialist assessment is needed.
Care for growing children
Older children may have neuro-musculoskeletal concerns related to everyday activities, playground injuries or sport. I adapt the examination to each child’s age and comfort, explain findings to parents and children, and discuss suitable management or referral options.
Your child’s first consultation lasts 45 minutes and includes time for questions, examination and discussion of options.
Working together
When appropriate, I collaborate with GPs, paediatricians, physiotherapists and other health professionals to support informed decisions about your child’s care.
