Dr. Luke Schmidt, a chiropractor registered with AHPRA, has established his own practice at The WOW Sensory Centre in Morphett Vale, Adelaide.

Luke, a born and bred South African, began his journey in chiropractic at a young age, inspired by his older brother to pursue this field of study. While studying at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) in South Africa, Luke had the opportunity to serve on the executive committees of various student organisations during his senior years. He was the President of the Student Chiropractic Association of Gauteng, the Head Delegate of the University of Johannesburg's World Congress of Chiropractic Students Chapter, and an Assistant Clinician in the day clinic.

In his final year he travelled to Malaga, Spain to lead UJ's chiropractic delegation at the World Congress of Chiropractic Students Annual General Meeting (the WCCS is the internationally recognised chiropractic student organisation). It was at this meeting where Luke felt his chiropractic career took a complete turn. On the final day of the congress, he was voted in as the Director of the African Region for the WCCS Board of Directors - and then further voted in as the first President of the WCCS Board of Directors, from the African region. This position opened up many doors for him with some of his most notable memories being to represent the international chiropractic profession at the World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland in 2014 and 2015. Soon after stepping down from his term of leadership, Luke was co-opted onto the Chiropractic Association of South Africa's national council, where he played an integral part in growth of the student member numbers as well as the implementation and running of the Straighten Up South Africa (SUSA) exercise programme for children for spinal health. A year and a half into his term on the council he was voted in as the Vice President of the Executive Committee of the Chiropractic Association of South Africa - this saw him travel both nationally and internationally to present at conferences and meet with various governmental organisations. Luke also worked closely with the chiropractic universities in South Africa, the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa, as well as various governmental departments.

In addition to all these roles, Luke established his own chiropractic clinic in South Africa in 2014, before selling it in 2020.

In 2020, Luke decided to step back from all these roles as he had decided to make the move to Australia - with various visa delays due to the closure of the borders - Luke finally made his move to Adelaide in 2022 and worked at another chiropractic clinic in Adelaide.

During his time here, he had spent his first 2 years travelling back and forth to Brisbane to further his studies in Paediatrics through the Australian College of Chiropractic (ACCP) - obtaining his Diploma in Paediatric Chiropractic withsome top marks! Luke has also studied further with sports chiropractic through the Fédération Internationale de Chiropratique du Sport in 2018 - obtaining his International Certification of Chiropractic Sports Practitioner.

Luke's enthusiasm has increasingly focused on general family practice and pediatrics. He has established relationships with his patients founded on mutual respect and honesty, ensuring he consistently delivers the highest quality and standard of care for you!

Luke has settled in Adelaide, embracing it as his home (and indeed, he has picked an AFL team). He thoroughly enjoys the lifestyle and the people here. He is approachable and always ready for a conversation!
